“Helping Others to Help Themselves”
On 14th October 2009, Mel and Chris (a.k.a. Monty) will set off for Nepal, where they will trek through the Himalayas to Everest Base Camp to raise money for Volunteer Service in Nepal (VSN).
This non-profit, non-governmental organisation provides sustainable financial, medical and logistical support and volunteer staff to a number of independently-run children’s homes in the Kathmandu valley.
VSN has embarked on an ambitious project to build a brand new home to replace the rented accommodation in which 30 of the children at the “Shining Stars” home are currently housed. Chris and Mel have organised the trek to Everest Base Camp to raise money to help to fund the construction of this new home.
